PRIVACY

The short version: this is a one-person ceramics studio in Calgary. I collect the minimum needed to run the shop. That means your name, email, and address when you order, and your email if you join the mailing list. I don't sell, rent, or share your information, and card numbers never touch this website. Last updated September 2026.

WHAT I COLLECT

  • Orders: your name, email, shipping address, and what you ordered. That's what it takes to get a pot to your door.
  • Mailing list: your email address and where you signed up. Nothing else.
  • Contact form: your name, email, and message.
  • Cookies: a few small ones that only remember what you're buying (cart, discount code, gift card). They expire after 14 days. There are no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, and nothing that follows you around the internet.
  • Server logs: the web server keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
  • Email copies: copies of order and shipping emails I send you, so there is a record of your purchase.

PAYMENTS

Payments run through Square's own checkout. You never type a card number into this website, and I never receive your card number. Square handles the card details and tells me the payment went through.

SHARING

I don't sell, rent, or trade your information, and there are no advertising trackers on this site. The only parties who ever see your information are:

  • Square, to take your payment.
  • The mail carrier, so your order arrives.
  • My email provider, to send your confirmations.
  • Google Fonts, because pages load a font from Google, so Google sees that request like any website load.

That's the whole list.

HOW LONG I KEEP IT

  • Order records: about six years, because Canadian tax rules require keeping business records.
  • Mailing list: until you unsubscribe. Email info@rupertrooster.com or use the contact form and you're off.
  • Contact messages: until they're handled, then deleted.

YOUR CHOICES

You can ask what information I have about you, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion. Email info@rupertrooster.com and I'll take care of it. The only thing I can't delete is what Canadian tax law requires order records to keep.

WHERE YOUR DATA LIVES

The studio is in Calgary, Alberta. Orders ship within Canada and to the USA. Your information stays with the studio and the processors listed above; it isn't sent anywhere else.

SECURITY

  • The whole site runs over HTTPS.
  • No card data is stored here, because Square handles all of it.
  • Order status links use secret tokens, and order pages are kept out of search engines.
  • This site isn't directed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from them.
